For students, their whole academic period is an opportunity to showcase their creativity and knowledge, and what better than a school project cover page. We remember how we used to craft our project and attach a project cover page by adopting some natural and lively elements to make it look interesting and appealing. More than the remarks, it was a competition among the classmates that used to keep the creativity in.
No matter what the project is always make sure they cover the entire project with uniqueness. Now it is mandatory to include a cover page on every project. If you have received the same guidelines from your respective teacher, then follow the same. Or else do it on your own. Remember the cover page is the first page that will be looked at; therefore craft it with care.
What is a School Project Cover Page?
A cover page is the first sheet provided in a project to let the reader have brief information on what the project is and who has done it. Sometimes cover pages are also referred to as the page you put on the cover panel.
The specifications provided by the school are to be included or you can work it out accordingly. It has been compulsorily included in every school since it seems to be an informative piece of document that has to be included in the project. Schools have considered it as an obligation as the cover pages are also included in business and corporate sectors.
What are the Elements to include in a School Project Cover page?
There are some elements to be necessarily covered in a cover page. To know what to include on a cover page, we need to remember the objective behind it. On recalling, we see it is to inform the examiner or the reader about the project.
So put the facts about your project and the author either in APA or MLA format guide. Follow a specific format based on which to write down the information. Here we provide the information in a sequential manner which you can follow to be in a standard format:
- Name of the school
- Running Head
- Page Number
- Title of the project/ subject of the project (For example- Science project, History project)
- The topic of the project
- Name of the author/ student
- Class
- Section
- Roll number
- Due date of submission
- Submission date
- Supervisor’s name
- Remarks
These are the elements we usually prefer to include in a school project cover page. If you wish, you can add in other elements too. But it doesn’t have to be necessarily included as the above-mentioned elements are enough to give an idea about your project to the supervisor.
Why is it Essential to Craft a School Assignment Cover Page?
Now, the inclusion of a school assignment cover page has been made compulsory in every academic institution, irrespective of the topic of the project. There was no written instruction provided from the teacher towards the students regarding the cover page but now since it is made compulsory, every teacher associated with the subject asks the students to craft a cover page, but why?
It is because-
- A cover page provides introductory information regarding the project to the reader.
- The contents of a cover page let the reader know about what the project has been made, and who has made it.
- It provides a general idea of the author of the project and provides a little detail.
- It presents professionalism and showcases the credentials and understanding of the author.
- Since it is a professional and formal approach, the assignment gets the recognition it deserves.
What is the Formatting Style of the School Assignment Cover Page Templates?
For crafting the cover page you need to use Microsoft Word or PowerPoint. But if you want an easier route, then you can opt for school project cover page templates. With the help of templates, you can craft a cover page for your school project easily. Some of these cover page templates are provided on our website. You can check them out if you wish.
1. Use a margined double-spaced sheet (since it is a school project).
2. Write the name of your school at the top of the page.
3. Leave a gap of one-third and mention the title of your project.
4. Right after writing the title, repeat the same gap and mention the name of the author/ student, followed by Class Section, Roll number, teacher’s name, and due date of submission.
5. Each letter of the word must be capitalized, and the font should be used in 12.
6. You can experiment with 7th edition Times New Roman, Calibri, and Arial.
7. Remember, the cover page is not taken under consideration as one of the pages of your project, but as an additional sheet of paper required for introduction.
The mentioned process is to be followed by those who wish to follow the MLA style guide. Do not mention any other elements in the school assignment cover page, if you want to stick to the official MLA format.
In the APA format guide, the guidelines would go as-
1. Write the running head or the title of the school project, top at the top in left alignment. Each letter of the title must be in uppercase.
2. On the very next line, mention the page number, aligning to the right side of the sheet.
3. Then leave 4 lines consecutively and write the subtitle.
5. Once again, leave a gap and write the name of the student, Class, Section, and Roll number.
6. On the next line, mention the teacher’s name and the date of submission.
7. Capitalise the first letter of each important term, and the alignment must be centered.
8. Use Times New Roman 12, Calibri 11, Arial 11, Lucida Sans Unicode 10, and Georgia 11 as the font style. Previously it was limited to Times New Roman only, but the 7th edition upgraded the list.
